Russian Consul here has just enquired (evident-
ly with reference to facilities they are affording for my wife's journey home) whether Russian consular officials from Canton will be given facilities and protection through British territory end on British ships.
Having anticipated the possibility of some such request I had already ascertained from the Governor that this would be done and have answered verbally accordingly.
